This weekend starts the Jewish Holiday of Purim. My son’s 2nd grade Hebrew School Class led the Friday night Shabbat service for Purim. They sang songs and lit the candles. One of the most fun things to do for this holiday is dress up in costume. Kings and Queens are the most popular. So with a crown and a make shift blanket turned cape we have a happy boy.

February 9, 2010I often don’t work with black and white. Its not because I don’t like black and white photos. In fact I really love them and the feelings that you get from seeing images with no color. I just never immediately think about black and white because of my love for beautiful and vibrant colors. However, every now and then I take a shot that speaks to me in black and white. This is one of them.
I so love her eyes. In just a few short weeks she will be 5 and is in the process of loosing her first tooth. Time flies.
The fresh white snow outside the window makes for a wonderful reflector. I guess that is the only upside to the second blizzard this month.

February 5, 2010Ok this week is a pretty lame attempt at recreating the snowflake macro shot. We are in the beginning of another weekend snow dumping so before it got too deep out there I trudged out in the cold to attempt this shot. One of these days I will have a real macro lens but for now the poor-woman’s technique will have to do.
