Project 52 {Animals} Week 5 | Dayton Maryland

I have been meaning to take some macro photos of my kids’ pet hermit crabs. We were gifted a large aquarium and the children all decided to buy hermit crabs instead of fish to fill it with. We purchased 3 soon after we moved into the new house. Unfortunately, two of the original 3 didn’t make it but this one has been with us since April. She is very small and super shy.

My daughter is holding her in her palm.

Then if you set the crab down and wait very patiently she will emerge ever so slowly.

After we lost the first crab we went back to the pet store to replace her. However they didn’t have the same size crabs that we had purchased last Spring. This crab is much bigger than the other one and she is also much more friendly and much more fast. My daughter had to hold her by the back of her shell so she wouldn’t crawl away.

Here I am holding her in the air while she says “Hi”.

Aren’t they cute?? :D
